Although it is often associated with the wedding day, the Zagara flower is an excellent ally for cosmetic, phytotherapeutic and culinary purposes.
Zagara is the flower produced by the orange tree (citrus sinensis) and, thanks to its heady scent, it is often used to embellish balconies, terraces and gardens.
Its name derives from the Arabic zahrar, which means “white flower”, taking up the typical coloring of its petals.
Because of its main characteristics, the orange blossom lends itself to many uses. In Middle Eastern cuisine, for example, orange blossom flavored water is used for desserts and pastries, giving the products a citrus flavor.
In the cosmetic field, this flower manages to release its many peculiarities. Thanks to its moisturizing and refreshing properties, it is useful for fighting cellulite, relaxing and toning the skin.
But Zagara can also be used in herbal medicine, as they produce beneficial effects on the nervous system and digestive system, promoting appetite and digestion. In addition, they act on the intestine (easing the troubles due to colitis and dyspepsia) and prevent the onset of diseases related to the urogenital system. They also contain febrifugal and diaphoretic properties, as they facilitate the sweating process.
Its qualities are truly numerous, so much so as to have the ability to act even at the level of the epidermis, curing infections.
The orange blossom also has sedative characteristics, managing to improve states of anxiety, stress and insomnia; it is also able to relieve menstrual pain and headache and, when it is associated with the use of honey, cinnamon and lemon, it can calm coughs and sore throats.
